West Fraser Timber has agreed to acquire the Angelina Forest Products lumber mill in Lufkin, Texas, for US$300 million.

The new turn-key facility, which produces southern yellow pine lumber products, began operations in late 2019 and is expected to progress toward full production capacity of 305 million board ft. over the next 3-4 years.

West Fraser says the mill will integrate with and support its existing East Texas lumber and OSB business, and expects it to be among the lowest cost operations in the company's lumber mill portfolio.

Upon completion of the deal, West Fraser will have 7 billion board ft. of combined Canadian and U.S. lumber production capacity.
