Industrial logging in Finland exceeds 6 million cubic meters in January

According to the Finnish Natural Resources Institute (Luke), in January 2023, 6.1 million m³ of roundwood for industrial use was harvested in the country. The indicator rose by 3% compared to the January average over the past five years. Compared to January 2020, the harvest has increased by 7%.

Sawlog removal amounted to 2.6 million m³, pulpwood - 3.5 million m³. Compared to the average for January over the previous five years, the export of sawlogs increased by 3%, the export of pulpwood - by 3%.

The removal of industrial roundwood from non-industrial private forests in January 2023 amounted to 5.1 million m³, which is 4% more than a year earlier.

The volume of cuttings in the forests of timber enterprises and state forests amounted to 1 million m³, which is 23% more than a year earlier.

The removal of fuel wood in the reporting month amounted to 0.4 million m³, of which 70% fell on trunks and whole trees.
