Germany: Beech log price index mainly continues to rise

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for beech logs were mostly positive in February 2022. On average, they increased by 1.1% to 106.3 points. B grade gained 1.3% from January to a level of 113.2 points. The index for 3 m lengths increased by 1.4% to 107.7 points, while that for 5 m lengths increased by 0.7% to 114.2 points.

C ranges rose 0.1% in February to hit 100.9 points. 3 m lengths increased by 0.5% to 100.6 points, 5 m lengths fell by 0.2% to 94.2 points. B/C ranges recorded an increase of 2.2% to 110.8 points.

Alternativtext Beech pulpwood recorded an increase of 2% to 101.8 points in February. Oak pulpwood again turned from its upward trend and fell by 2.1% to 91.5 points. The hardwood pulpwood price index increased by 1.3% to 100.2 points.

Year-on-year, the beech log index was up 4.5%. B grade gained 8.6% from February 2021 with 3.4% at 3m lengths and 9.7% at 5m lengths. C ranges increased by 0.7%, 3 m lengths increased by 6.5%, 5 m lengths decreased by 7.5%. B/C ranges increased by 8.1%. Industrial quality recorded an increase of 7.5%.
