Economic growth in the euro area is still stable. In addition to the construction industry and service producers, producers of capital goods also assess future development positively. Above all, the Austrian woodworking industry can point to an exceptionally positive sales trend in all divisions.

The months of extremely positive economic development for the Austrian sawmills has not yet arrived in the forestry sector due to the calamity-related oversupply of beetle wood. The Austrian softwood roundwood market is extremely tense due to the bark beetle damaged areas. Increased beetle wood accumulation at home and abroad and maintenance shutdowns over the summer have again increased the waiting time for the removal of the wood from forests for several weeks.

The price for C-Cross qualityin the beetle areas in Upper and Lower Austria is at a lower level, with a maximum of 50 EUR / m3. Outside also reach 60 EUR / fm. Above all, outside of the calamity areas, there is a noticeable increase in the demand for freshly felled wood, which, however, is not yet reflected in the price.

The price range for spruce A, B, C 2a + is 78-92 EUR / fm. For the beetle areas the lower half of this spectrum applies. Due to the oversupply of spruce wood, the marketing of pine is extremely difficult. Only the demand for larch and Douglas fir wood is still brisk.
