A second muted week of trading since the U.S. holiday generated cracks in prices of framing lumber. Still fortified with order files of at least one to two weeks on many items, producers gave ground grudgingly. But quicker-shipping loads developed, and mills discounted some items more aggressively. After edging up $1 at midweek to a new all-time high of $583, the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price slipped back to the week’s starting point.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading lacked energy. The strength of mill order files went a long way in determining price patterns in OSB. In most producing regions, mill files extended into late June or early July, and producers held firm to quotes. Southern Pine plywood traders reported a quiet week of sales. Buyers increased resistance toward current price levels. Activity in western Fir plywood was slow to start, and failed to find another gear as had been the case in previous weeks.
