Germany: Oak log price index throughout increasing

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for oak all showed upwards in February 2022. On average, the index value for log wood increased by 3.1% to 127.2 points. No data was available for A quality in the previous month. Compared to December 2021, however, the index stood at 95.4, an increase of 8.4%. B quality recorded an increase of 2.1% to 131.1 points. 3m lengths increased by 1.1% to 124.3 points, while 5m lengths increased by 4.6% to 151.8 points.

C ranges increased by 3.3% to 135.2 points. 3 m lengths contributed to this with an increase of 4.3% to 136.8 points. 5 m lengths increased by 6.1% to 142.4 points.

Alternativtext Oak pulpwood again turned from its upward trend in February and fell by 2.1% to 91.5 points. Beech pulpwood recorded an increase of 2% to 101.8 points. The hardwood pulpwood price index increased by 1.3% to 100.2 points.

Year-on-year the index for oak logs increased by 10.3% - that for A-quality by 10.7%. B grade was up 8.2% year-on-year with an increase of 8.3% for 3m lengths and 14.2% for 5m lengths. C ranges saw an 11% increase and industrial grade gained 18.8%.
