Persistent economic uncertainties, constantly rising costs in all areas and a lack of new orders continue to reduce sawn timber sales in Austria. The demand for softwood saw logs is correspondingly low. While in Upper Austria the demand slightly exceeds the supply, in the rest of Austria the demand is covered by the quantities arising from the processing of damaged wood. If transport capacities are available, the removal is quick and any delays are limited. The prices mostly remain unchanged. Especially in the case of assortments of smaller dimensions, the increased price of industrial logs determines the lower price level. The prices for pine are stable, larch maintains its high price level. In contrast to Germany, where the demand for larch has fallen, it remains high in Austria.

A lack of sawmill by-products and the diversion of significant quantities in the direction of pellet production mean that the industrial log market remains very dynamic. Demand remains high. There are no supply restrictions. The removal and acceptance take place accordingly quickly. Prices have continued to rise. In the case of copper beech pulpwood, the demand far exceeds the supply, and the demand remains very lively despite the increased prices. Demand also remains very lively on the energy wood market. Quantities can be marketed at increased prices without any problems.
