The year 2009 for the German machinery and plant engineering had been one of the worst since decades. Especially the producers of woodworking machinery had to face a dramatic decline of sales. Their turnover in 2009 was reduced by 42 percent compared with the previous year.

The tender sale at the Swiss township Gempen kept hold of its good reputation for hard maple. The prices scored for all logs from the regions of Dorneck, Thierstein, Laufental, Jura, Baselland, and Berner Jura were proving a high quality of the offered hard maple.

Compared with the reference period one year earlier the oak log exports of the German forestry dropped considerably. In November 6,733 cbm were exported, loosing 6 percent. The export value declined 13 percent. Looking at the period from January to November the amount of oak logs exported from Germany declined 30 percent to 79,017 cbm, corresponding to a value of 11.7 million euro, down 43 percent.
On 19-21 March 2010 will be the fifth edition of the DREWOOD Fair. This event is bringing together representatives of the timber industry at home and abroad.
DREWOOD 2010 will be held traditionally in Wroclaw Centennial Hall, in parallel with the building Fair TARBUD.
The idea of the coexistence of both events is great for longer than three years. Fair visitors have got a chance to look at the offer presented by the exhibitors, which covers a broad spectrum of products and services from the timber and building industry. In one place, and time is presented close to 400 companies, making it easier for interested parties to review the news and trends in the industry.
