According to provisional results from the construction statistics for the year 2008, nominal construction expenditure rose year-on-year by 0.9% to CHF 51.8 billion. Allowing for inflation in the construction industry of an estimated 3.7% in 2008, real construction expenditure fell by 2.7%. Building projects announced for 2009 indicate slackening of nominal construction expenditure.
