Russia: sawn timber production up along with the prices for certain wooden goods

In January-September 2016, the Russian sawn timber production grew over the respective period of the last year. This conclusion is based on the latest statistics provided by the Russian statistics service Rosstat. 

Thus, as of September 2016, the Russian sawnwood production volume reached 17.1 million m3. This is 4.5% more than in the first nine months of 2015. Moreover, the September 2016 figures are 4.3% higher than those of September 2015, and 4.7% than those of August 2016. 

Rosstat includes the following goods in the sawn timber commodity group: timber sawn along the grain, or lumber; sliced and peeled wood whose width is not superior to 6 mm; non-treated sleepers. 

Moreover, according to Rosstat, there was observed price growth for several types of goods, namely: rotary-cut veneer, plywood veneer and sheathing board prices grew by 21,0%; 100% wood-based plywood prices – by 5.0%; wooden millwork and joinery – by 3.5%; fiber boards made of wood and other lignified materials – by 2.3%.
