According to Ivan Stukanov, the regional minister of economic development, investments in the Republic of Komi will total RUR400 billion (about US$16.8 billion) up to 2020. Komi is currently implementing 40 large-scale investment projects in fuel & energy, timber industry, metalworking and engineering. Until 2020, timber-related industries will be in focus. As the Komi minister of economic development announced, the republic prepares about 20 large projects in this sphere, in particular, the restructuring of Syktyvkar industrial timber facilities and building of two pulp & paper mills. Timber house construction projects are also being considered.
